Following our engagement at the Eisemann Performing Arts Center, several members of Five By Design headed to Branson, Missouri to visit with Scott Ives and explore the possibilities of performing in this music city.
Scott has been a sound engineer in Branson for the past twenty years and has a very good feel for the entertainment climate in the city. Highway 76, otherwise known as the "strip" winds through Branson with a plethora of music theatres that wind through the downtown area. Branson is also home to Andy Williams' Moon River Theatre, comedian Yakov Smirnov, and newer acts such as Spirit of the Dance.
We stayed at the Lodge of the Ozarks for the evening and were up the next day to briefly visit with Dick Easton, owner of the God & Country Theatre. The venue is an intimate 400-seat house that could certainly accommodate our productions. Incidentally, Scott Ives is the son of our orchestrator and good friend, Lovell Ives.
