Michael has been a member of Five By Design since 1987. He joined the ensemble while finishing his undergraduate studies. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree and his Masters Degree in Piano Performance at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, 1987 and 1989 respectively. Until the ensemble went full-time in 1997, Michael worked as a piano teacher in Green-Bay.
Michael grew up in Washburn, Wisconsin where he put his passion to work by putting together shows at an early age. His love for show building has continued through the years and has helped in the creation of Five By Design’s productions.
As Executive Director of Five By Design, Michael spends the majority of his time as the group’s visionary. He also is responsible for creating some of the group’s vocal arrangements. Michael puts his degree into action in their musical Club Swing, where he can be heard tearing up the piano on Jack Fina's rendition of "Bumble Boogie". Michael also plays the piano duet “Smile” with bass Terrence Niska in Five By Design's latest production Stay Tuned.
